Tire Rack Joins Newgarden As Primary Sponsor For Portland

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Tire Rack has joined Team Penske as the primary sponsor for Josef Newgarden in Sunday’s BigNile.com Grand Prix of Portland. 

The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and two-time IndyCar Series champion will drive a No. 2 Chevrolet sponsored by the tire company that is based in South Bend, Indiana.

It’s the final road course race on this year’s NTT IndyCar Series schedule.

Tire Rack previously joined the organization as an associate partner across the Team Penske Chevrolets in the IndyCar Series prior to the 2022 season with 13 visits to Victory Lane in that span.

Newgarden is a 31-time winner in IndyCar Series competition, earning back-to-back wins in the Indianapolis 500 in 2023-’24 with the Tire Rack logo adorning the front wing of the No. 2 Chevrolet. 

The 2017 and 2019 IndyCar Series champion has eight career wins on road courses similar to Portland. He is currently eighth in the IndyCar Series championship standings.

Team Penske has a long history with Discount Tire in NASCAR.

It began in 2010 as the NASCAR Xfinity Series sponsor for Brad Keselowski, who delivered the NASCAR Xfinity Series driver championship that year for Team Penske’s first NASCAR title with six wins and a series-record 26 top five finishes

The brand moved to Team Penske’s NASCAR Cup Series partner lineup in 2018 During that time Austin Cindric won the 2022 Daytona 500 and Keselowski the 2018 Brickyard 400 in the No. 2 Discount Tire Ford.

Team Penske has four NASCAR Cup Series wins and 37 NASCAR Xfinity Series wins with Discount Tire with Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Austin Cindric, A.J. Allmendinger and Sam Hornish Jr.
