Rain Delays Carb Day Festivities

INDIANAPOLIS — The start of Friday’s final round of practice for the 106th Indianapolis 500, known as Carb Day was delayed two hours, but practice began at 1 p.m.

Practice started to a large roar from the huge crowd that has returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The originally-scheduled two-hour session has been cut to 90 minutes and will conclude at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Early morning rain followed by persistent mist, had delayed the start of the 11 a.m. Eastern Time practice session for the 33-car starting lineup that will compete in Sunday’s Indy 500.

More rain is about three hours away, so it is IndyCar’s intention to get the final round of practice completed on Friday.
