FORT WORTH, Texas – Jack Harvey is out and Santino Ferrucci is in the No. 45 Hy-Vee Honda for Sunday’s XPEL 375 NTT IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Harvey was involved in a crash in Saturday’s final practice session when he lost control of the car exiting Turn 2 and ricocheted across the track before slamming hard into the infield retaining wall.

Harvey was checked and released from the infield care center, but according to IndyCar protocols, his impact was past the minimum threshold that is allowed in order to compete.
Per IndyCar protocol, all drivers wear accelerometers that measure G-forces exhibited during an incident. These get evaluated, fully, after each incident, and if the result of the G-forces surpasses the minimum threshold, drivers must be re-evaluated prior to returning to competition.
Following the protocol, Harvey, was re-evaluated Sunday morning and was not cleared for racing. Harvey is working closely with the IndyCar medical team regarding next steps.
IndyCar has called a special practice session for Ferrucci to run laps before the start of Sunday’s race. The 15-minute session will begin shortly with the green flag for the race scheduled at 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time.
Ferrucci competed in five races for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team in 2021.
