Callum Ilott is set to compete for Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team aboard the No. 6 Chevrolet in the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida, the team announced Tuesday.
Full-time driver David Malukas is currently recovering from surgery on his left wrist after a mountain bike crash in February. Malukas had succesful surgery on Feb. 14, with an estimated recovery of six weeks following the removal of his stitches on Feb. 22.
Ilott made 36 NTT IndyCar Series starts with Juncos Hollinger Racing over the last three seasons, including five top-10 finishes. He also has experience in Formula 1 as he was a test driver for Scuderia Ferrari and a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo in 2021.
According to Arrow McLaren, they will “continues to evaluate options for its driver lineup for future tests and races as David recovers.”
