Colton Herta of Andretti Global has been the fastest driver in every on-track session of the weekend leading into Sunday’s Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto.
That included Sunday’s final warmup session when the driver of the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda had the best time of the 30-minute session at 1:00.0783.
The street race is at the 1.786, 11-turn street course winds around Canada’s Exhibition Place, the long-time home of the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto.
One of the unique aspects of this race course is the slowest pit lane speed limit on the schedule. It’s just 40 miles per hour. It also has several “bends” on pit road that drivers have to navigate.
Fourteen minutes into the session, rookie driver Toby Sowery spun and made light contact into the turn-nine barrier.
Herta was followed by Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden’s 1:00.40760 in the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet. Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing was third at 1:00.51900 in the No. 10 DHL Honda.
Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing was fourth at 1:00.7376 in the No. 9 PNC Honda with Felix Rosenqvist fifth in the No. 60 Meyer Shank Honda at 1:00.8521.
The race is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET.
