INDIANAPOLIS – Dragon Racing has named 22-year-old Sebastian Saavedra to drive the No. 6 Chevrolet-powered Dallara backed by TRUECar in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Saavedra will be a teammate to four-time Champ Car World Series champion Sebastien Bourdais, who will drive the No. 7 Dragon Racing entry.
Saavedra, who has 19 IZOD IndyCar Series starts over the past three seasons, had a best finish of 15th in three races in 2012 with AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport. He also competed in his third season in Firestone Indy Lights, finishing fourth in the championship.
Saavedra made his IZOD IndyCar Series debut with Bryan Herta Autosport in the 2010 Indianapolis 500. During his 19 career IndyCar starts, Saavedra has a best finish of 11th in 2011 during the event in Brazil.
Dragon Racing, which competed in a full season for the first time in 2009, has recently expanded its operations to include a facility in Indianapolis. The team is based in Southern California.
