INDIANAPOLIS – The stars of the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights will cap off the 2012 season by celebrating at racing’s most iconic location, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 2012 IndyCar Championship Celebration will take place Dec. 6, in conjunction with the opening night of the International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Pagoda Pavilion will serve as the venue for the awards ceremony, which will be followed by a reception in the famed Pagoda.
With the Indianapolis Motor Speedway serving as the host of the pinnacle race in the IZOD IndyCar Series season, the excitement that comes along with this location is evident in all events that take place at the track.
“The celebration of our champions is something we look forward to every year,” said Randy Bernard, CEO, IndyCar. “It’s a time to recognize and reflect on a great season, and fully show our appreciation for the efforts our drivers, teams and sponsors put forth throughout the year. We’re excited to have the opportunity to host the banquet during IMIS so others within the motorsports industry can join in the festivities.”
A limited amount of tickets will be available to the public for purchase, with details announced at a later date.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted the IndyCar Championship Celebration in 2006 and 2007.
