INDIANAPOLIS – Two-time Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso will make his on-track debut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during a test session on May 3.
Alonso, who competes full-time for McLaren-Honda in Formula One, will be making his Indianapolis 500 debut later in the month of May through a partnership between McLaren, Honda and Andretti Autosport.
The test session will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET) on the 2.5-mile oval. This will be Alonso’s first laps on an oval. Fans are invited to watch the test from the turn two viewing mounds free of charge.
Alonso, 35, is skipping the Monaco Grand Prix this year in order to compete in the 101st Indianapolis 500 on May 28. Jenson Button will make a one-race return to Formula One to compete for McLaren-Honda in Monaco.
