Turn 3 Expands Into USF2000 With Josh Green

MUNDELEIN, Ill. – Turn 3 Motorsport will expand its presence in the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires by entering the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship next season, with returning driver Josh Green filling the team’s first seat.

The team, led by Road to Indy veteran driver Peter Dempsey, will run two cars in the USF2000 Championship in addition to its Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires program.

In its rookie season, Turn 3 Motorsport attracted attention out of the gate by winning the season opener of the 2020 Indy Pro 2000 Championship in a sweeping performance with Singaporean driver Danial Frost. Frost and the team went on to achieve a pole position, six podium finishes, and third overall in the championship.

Green, a winner of the prestigious Team USA Scholarship in 2019, had a successful rookie season in the USF2000 series this year finishing sixth in the championship with three podiums and 12 top-10 finishes. Before that, the 18-year-old American made his race car debut in the 2019 F1600 Championship Series where he finished second overall in the standings with eight wins, five poles, and 18 podiums in 21 races.

In preparation for the upcoming USF2000 Championship season, Green and Turn 3 Motorsport recently completed three successful tests together at Barber Motorsports Park, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring Int’l Raceway, gelling together well and setting the foundation for a strong campaign.

“I’m extremely excited about joining Turn 3 Motorsport for the 2021 season,” said Green. “Each day of our testing was extremely effective and maximized in every aspect which is the most important thing from pre-season tests. We now go into the off-season with our heads held high and lots of valuable information in our back pockets heading into the season. Peter and Richard (Lyons) both come from backgrounds steeped in talent and success, and I can’t wait to continue to grow and learn throughout the year with them. As for the season, the goal is a championship, as it is for everyone. But, no matter the outcome, the most important thing is each one of us leaves the season knowing we put 110% into our campaign. If we’re successful in that, I have no doubt that a championship is within reach.”

“I’m thrilled to announce that we are expanding our program to the USF2000 Championship in 2021,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “Coming off the back of a very strong Indy Pro 2000 season this year, to be able to enter USF2000 next year with a driver like Josh is a huge boost to our program, and he brings a season of experience with him to the team as well. Josh did a phenomenal job over the six days of testing we did, and we gelled together very well. We have a great group of talented people on the team, and I feel we have the ability to have a strong debut season in 2021.”
