MINNEAPOLIS – JDC MotorSports has signed Zack Meyer to contest the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship Series schedule.
The Canadian will contest his second full season of competition this coming year, with an eye on helping the Minnesota-based team add to its already impressive junior formula car resume.
“We are very happy to add another talented driver to the lineup for 2013,” said JDC MotorSports team owner John Church. “Things are really shaping up for us, and having Zack on board will be a big help towards our campaign.”
“I’m very excited to join JDC, and I’m looking forward to getting in the car with a really great support system behind me,” said Meyer. “Hopefully I can add to the already great resume of the team.”
With support from his mom, driving coach Joe Launi, and Sponsor Damis Partners III, Meyer enters the 2013 race season with JDC with multiple wins and championships already on his young racing resume.
The Toronto, Ont. native first made his mark in the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship, winning back-to-back F125/ICC Shifter titles in 2009 and 2010. Meyer continued his winning ways south of the border in the USA karting ranks, besting drivers from around the world to win KZ2 crown in both the 2011 and 2012 Florida Winter Tour. Jumping directly up to the Star Mazda Championship, he scored a top-10 in his one-off car racing debut at Mosport Int’l Raceway (now Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) in 2011, before a solid inaugural full season of car competition last year, that featured increasing speed and racecraft resulting in three top-10 finishes.
Meyer will be part of a multi-car effort by JDC MotorSports in the Pro Mazda Championship alongside fellow series returnee Juan Piedrahita and rookie Lloyd Read.
