YAS ISLAND, Abu Dhabi – He may have clinched the Formula One World Championship at the last race in India, but Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel showed no signs of slowing down Friday in Abu Dhabi.
The now four-time World Champion continued his recent domination by ending Friday’s two practice sessions at the Yas Marina Circuit with the fastest lap time. Vettel stopped the clocks in practice two at 1:41.335, besting teammate Mark Webber’s 1:41.490 lap time.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was third fastest in practice two, clocking in at 1:41.690. Kimi Raikkonen was fourth, followed by Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes entry.
Romain Grosjean set the pace in the opening round of practice for Lotus, impressing with a fast lap time of 1:44.241. Grosjean is looking to repeat Raikkonen’s victory from 2012 in Abu Dhabi, the first victory for the new Lotus squad.
Hamilton finished practice one in second, followed by Vettel, Webber and Rosberg.
