LONDON — The Formula One Teams’ Ass’n has been dissolved.
The organization, which was created six years ago to represent the teams competing in Formula One and support their interests was disbanded because of financial difficulties.
Ferrari and Red Bull quit the organization in 2011 and only seven of the 11 teams were members last year. All teams decided not to pay subscription fees to the organization this year.
According to a FOTA statement, teams have “re-evaluated their requirements in the face of a changing political and commercial landscape in Formula One.”
Dedicated fans of Formula One will miss FOTA’s involvement with the teams as the it frequently organized forums and question-and-answer sessions with drivers and team officials during race weekends.
