Formula One Confirms Return To Turkey

PARIS – Formula One has confirmed four more events for this season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, including a return to Turkey’s Istanbul Park for the first time since 2011.

The Turkish Grand Prix is scheduled to be held Nov. 15 ahead of back-to-back events at the Bahrain Int’l Circuit on Nov. 26 and Dec. 6. The season will conclude with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Dec. 13.

Sebastian Vettel won the most recent Turkish Grand Prix in 2011.

As part of the schedule announcement, Formula One officials confirmed there would not be a Chinese Grand Prix this year. That event was originally postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but has now been officially canceled.

“We can confirm that Turkey, Bahrain (hosting two races), and Abu Dhabi will be part of the revised season and want to express our thanks to the hard work of all our promoters and partners in making this 17-race season possible,” Formula One officials said in a statement.

“Sadly, we will not be racing in China this season and want to thank our partner Juss Sports for their support and engagement in recent months and hugely look forward to returning to Shanghai next year.”
