POMONA, Calif. — Sunday’s In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at Pomona Dragstrip was halted early during eliminations because of a plane crash near the top end of the race track.
According to NHRA officials, a small single-engine airplane crashed at the Pomona Fairplex. The pilot and three other occupants of the aircraft suffered minor to moderate, non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated at a nearby hospital.
The crash happened around 11:09 a.m. PT, which paused Sunday’s eliminations after two Top Fuel runs.
Working with the Pomona Police Department and LA County Fire Department, NHRA was given the OK to continue racing with action resuming at 12:52 p.m. PT.
