CONCORD, N.C. — According to a statement released by the NHRA, Greg Anderson’s pass during the third round of Pro Stock qualifying on Saturday at zMAX Dragway was disqualified due to a technical violation.
Though the five-time class champion had a lightening-fast .010 reaction time off the tree and visibly crossed the finish line first in his quad, NHRA determined that Anderson “bypassed a safety device” during the run, which is a technical infraction.Â
For the time being, the HendrickCars.com driver remains the No. 1 qualifier for Sunday’s Four-Wide Nationals at the “Bellagio of Drag Strips” with the 6.50-second pass he logged Friday.
In the release, NHRA further explained the implications of Anderson’s disqualification from Q3, which was part of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge — a speciality bonus program that pits semifinalists from the previous race against each other.
“This will also disqualify him from the final quad of the NHRA Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. Erica Enders will replace Anderson in the final,” NHRA’s statement read.Â
