BROWNSBURG, Ind. — Rob Flynn will take over as crew chief on the C&J Energy Services Top Fuel Dragster throughout the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series announced driver and team owner Bob Vandergriff, Jr.
Flynn is moving over from the other Vandergriff team car, the Yas Marina Circuit/DIGIORNO dragster driven by Hot Rod Fuller, after longtime crew chief Jim Dupuy was released following the 14th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Joliet, Ill., July 7-10.
Flynn will commence tuning responsibilities for the car beginning with the upcoming 32nd annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo.
Keith Stewart will continue as assistant crew chief of the C&J Energy Services Top Fuel Dragster.
As a result of the switch, Bob Vandergriff Racing named Mike Guger as crew chief and Dave Fletcher the assistant crew chief of the Yas Marina Circuit/DIGIORNO Top Fuel Dragster.
“Working together with both cars under the Bob Vandergriff Racing umbrella we feel like we are in a position to make significant improvement on qualifying and race days,” Vandergriff said. “Even though Rob will now be sitting in my trailer he will still be involved with the Yas Marina car as we view our program as one big team that races two top fuel dragsters.”
