POMONA, Calif. – Cory McClenathan will race a limited schedule in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Top Fuel division during the 2015 season for two different teams.
McClenathan, a four-time NHRA Top Fuel championship runner-up, will begin the season driving for Pat Dakin. He’ll enter at least seven events driving for Dakin, beginning with the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at North Carolina’s zMAX Dragway with the possibility of adding the U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway to his schedule with Dakin.
After that, McClenathan will switch gears and join Tuttle Motorsports for four events during the Countdown to the Championship. He’ll begin his tenure with Tuttle at zMAX Dragway, followed by events in Dallas, Texas, Las Vegas, Nev., and the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. More events could be added to his schedule with Tuttle as well.
McClenathan last completed the full NHRA schedule in 2010. He has 38 career NHRA victories.The veteran drag racer will also try his hand at off-road racing this year with a regional Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series schedule. He’ll drive a Pro Lite truck for owner Dave Winner alongside Winner’s son, also named Cory.
