SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. — The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series will have to wait until April to contest the Summertown Showdown at Thunderhill Raceway.
Dismal weather conditions impeded the track from being ready to host this weekend’s events, leading officials to postpone the event to April 18.
The track underwent facility improvements during the winter, which included building new grandstands, a new catch fence, leveling the pit area and several more enhancements.
The new date creates a three-day race weekend with the World of Outlaws visiting Thunderhill on April 18 for a $10,000-to-win event and then making the trek south for the Alabama Gang 100 at the Talladega Short Track, April 19-20 – paying $35,000 to Saturday’s winner.
“We are looking forward to seeing Thunderhill Raceway when it’s fully ready for a national event next month,” World of Outlaws CASE Late Model Series Director Steve Francis said. “With everything they’ve been working on to improve the track this winter, Thunderhill will be a great a facility for a World of Outlaws event when we race there in April.”
