FAIRBURY, Ill. — UMP Modified star Nick Hoffman is going dirt late model racing during the 31st running of the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway.
Hoffman, who registered his record 55th Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals victory on Sunday at Kentucky’s Richmond Raceway, will drive for Scott Bloomquist Racing during the marquee event at the quarter-mile dirt oval.
Team namesake Scott Bloomquist is sitting out the race due to a loss of sensation in his right leg, opening the door for Hoffman to pilot the team’s No. 0 at Fairbury for the $50,000-to-win race that is sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series.
Bloomquist competed with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series last weekend at Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway and finished 21st in Saturday’s Silver Dollar Nationals.
Hoffman has raced a dirt late model before, most recently during the 26th and 27th Dirt Late Model Dreams at Eldora Speedway. He earned a ninth-place finish during the 27th edition of the Dream.
Hoffman has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career. In addition to an incredible run in the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals that has seen him win 17 races, Hoffman also has 12 additional victories for a total of 29 triumphs this season in a dirt modified.
