CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — After starting third in the IMCA late model feature, Ricky Weiss proved his dominance yet again, scoring his second consecutive victory on night six of the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw at Central Arizona Raceway.
The No. 7 late model driver bested Cody Laney and Josh Zimpel, who finished second and third respectively, and collected the $3,000 winner’s check. Jason Strand and Clayton Stuckey rounded out the top five.
In the limited modified division, Lucas Rodin was looking for redemption after coming up one spot short in last night’s feature. He expertly wheeled the No. 19 to victory, marking his second win of the seven-race series.
Jamie Davis, Terry Reilly, Lane Johnson and Jory Berg completed the top five.
The IMCA modified class belonged to hard-charging Tim Ward.
After starting eighth, Ward worked his way through the pack, passing previous Early Thaw winners Zachary Madrid and Chaz Baca on his way to the front. While Ward ended the night on top, Kollin Hibdon and Shawn Strand came close in second and third. Madrid slipped from the lead to finish fourth and Baca filed behind him in fifth.
It was all Jerry Flippo in the IMCA stock car division. However, perhaps more impressive was Trent Grager’s run in the No. 71. He made up 11 positions to finish second.
Ryan Satter, Kevin Roberts and Scott Miller rounded out the top five.
