EASTABOGA, Ala. — Randy Weaver is wanting a third Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series championship.
Weaver’s $4,700 victory at Talladega Short Track was his third this season on the 30th year tour has padded his points lead putting him back into contention to win a third championship.
Weaver started back in the 12th spot and rallied from that position to take the lead from William Thomas on the 31st lap and go on to hold off a hard charging Jason Heitt for the victory. William Thomas held on to third while Jake Knowles came from 15th to fourth and Tim Busha overcame going to the tail to finish fifth.
The two time SAS champion Randy Weaver won $3,500 for the victory but claimed the bonus for leading lap 42 of $1,200 while driving the Outlaw Race Products sponsored Cornett Racing Engines powered GRT Race Car to the win.
