Less than 24 hours after Ricky Thornton Jr. and SSI Motorsports parted ways, Thornton has found a new ride.
According to Thornton’s Facebook page, he is set to pilot Stevie Sheppard’s No. 5s Sheppard Racing late model in Monday night’s Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Illinois’ Lincoln Speedway.
While the partnership is currently for only one race, the post detailed that “the Sheppard family offered up this ride within minutes,” of Sunday’s news breaking.Â
“Their generosity and willingness to get this car ready in less than 24 hours will never be forgotten,” the post read. “They are incredible people and I hope some day we can repay the favor.”
Thornton is the current points leader of the series by six points over Jason Feger.
