SOMERSET, Ky. — Officials with the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series and XR Super Series have postponed the Spring Thaw 100 at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., that was scheduled for March 23-25 due to an unfavorable weekend weather forecast.
The event will now take place April 13-15.
With the Spring Thaw now rescheduled for April 13-15, the weekend will open on Thursday April 13 with an open practice for super late models and modifieds. Racing action will get underway on Friday April 14 with a pair of $5,000-to-win feature events for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series/XR Super Series co-sanctioned super late models, while the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will open their season with a $1,500-to-win feature contest.
The weekend will conclude on Saturday April 15 as the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series/XR Super Series Super Late Models will contest the Spring Thaw 100 main event, with the winner taking home the $100,000 top prize, while the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will again be in action, racing for $1,500-to-win.
The next event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will now serve as the season opener for the Southern Series at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway on Saturday April 8, with the third annual Lil Bill Corum Memorial, paying $21,000 to win.
