DONNELLSON, Iowa – Brian Shirley crossed the finish line first during Friday’s MARS Racing Series feature at Lee County Speedway, but it was Bobby Pierce who celebrated in victory lane.
Shirley led every lap of the 30-lap feature, but his car failed to meet minimum weight at the scales following the race. As a result, second-place Pierce was promoted to first in the final rundown.
Pierce collected $5,000 for the inherited victory.
Frank Heckenast Jr. was scored second, followed by Ryan Unzicker, Chris Simpson and Daryn Klein.
