Schedules Set For Southern Late Models Tours

INDIANAPOLIS — Schedules for the Southern Nationals Series, the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and the Spring Nationals Series were revealed Friday at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show.

In addition to the schedule announcements, promoter Ray Cook has announced that Schaeffer’s Oil will be the title sponsor of all three tours beginning in 2017. Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee R.V. will become the co-presenting sponsors of all three race tours.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee R.V. two-week tour will be entering its 13th season. A new track on the schedule Senoia (Ga.) Raceway, which will host the tour on July 20.

The Rebel Yell event at Screven Motor Speedway on July 22 will feature a purse increase and pay $10,000-to-win. Three events paying $10,000 to win will appear on the 11-race tour.

Tazewell Speedway is the only track to host an event every season for what will now be the 13th time.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee R.V. will be entering the fifth season of competition. Crossville Speedway joins the schedule for the first time on April 21. Dixie Speedway’s event will increase to a $5,000-to-win event for 2017.

On the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee R.V., which is entering its fourth full season of competition, the tour features 14 scheduled dates from March until November.

The series returns to Richmond (Ky.) Raceway on May 20 as part of the Mike Roland Memorial, paying $10,000-to-win. 201 Speedway will host their first event since 2015 with the running of the Bob Miller Memorial on June 30 paying $10,000-to-win.

Florence Speedway will join the tour schedule for the first time. A $10,000-to-win and 50-lap event is scheduled for June 24 at Florence as part of a double-header weekend with Ponderosa Speedway in Kentucky.

The series will co-sanction five events with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series as well.
