MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Logan Roberson ended a three-year drought by winning Friday night’s RUSH late model feature in round two of the Battle of the Bay Speedweek at Potomac Speedway.
Roberson passed Kyle Hardy on lap five then fended him off over the final 25 laps to capture the $3,000 victory. Roberson also takes over the 2022 3C Graphix Battle of the Bay Speedweek points lead heading into Saturday night’s finale at Winchester Speedway.
“Man he made me earn that one and there was nothing easy about it,” stated the 24-year-old Roberson. “I feel like every opportunity was there. Every time there was a caution they doubled us up and I had to race my butt off. He didn’t let me have it easy. I’d race him just as hard as he raced me; that’s what we’re both here for- to win. Finally; I let this one slip away last year and I said ‘I’m not going to let that happen again this year’. I did everything in my power to keep him behind me. He’s a good race car driver and is tough. Vicki (Emig) and Mike (Leone) run a great Series and I couldn’t ask for anything better. They have some tough competition and tonight proved it with 42 cars here and many of them could have won.”
Hardy finished second, with Brady Wonderling, Jeremy Wonderling and Trevor Collins rounding out the top five.
Collins set fast time overall against the 42-car field.
