DUBUQUE, Iowa — Bobby Pierce led the final three laps of Monday night’s XR Super Series late model main event at Dubuque Speedway.
Pierce, who started eighth, passed Moran on lap 48 and scooted away to win the $20,000 top prize by 1.078 seconds.
Moran, who inherited the lead on lap 19 after two previous leaders (Ricky Thornton Jr. and Hudson O’Neal) suffered flat tires, finished second.
Brandon Sheppard, Thornton and O’Neal rounded out the top five after 50 laps.
It was Pierce’s 15th feature victory of the season.
Thornton was the fast qualifier for the 40-car field with a lap of 14.191 seconds.
