AMHERST, N.Y. — Phillip Jay “Phil” Edwards, a stock car driver from western New York, passed away at age 81 on Nov. 24.
Among many accomplishments, Edwards was a winning driver in the late model and modified classes at Lancaster Speedway, as well as in the late model sportsman division at Holland Speedway. After he retired from driving, Edwards worked as a starter at Lancaster in the 1980s.
Edwards also operated Edwards Performance in Buffalo and Edwards Chevrolet in Attica.
He is survived by wife, Debbie. Phil’s children include April, Robert, Jennifer, Philip, Brian, Andrew, John, Connie and the late Elizabeth. He was a grandfather of 13 and a great-grandfather of five.
