Overton Rises Late For Turkey 100 Score

SWAINSBORO, Ga. — Brandon Overton took advantage of Carson Ferguson’s misfortune to win the 50-lap Turkey 100 at Swainsboro Raceway on Saturday night.

Inheriting the lead when polesitter Carson Ferguson retired after leading 34 laps, second-starting Overton led the rest of Saturday’s event at Swainsboro to capture the Rogers-Dabbs Crate Racin’ U.S.A. finale. Overton turned back late challenges from runner-up Michael Brown for the $10,000 Turkey 100 payday.

Overton edged Brown by a 0.502-second margin at the finish.

Ferguson dominated the first 34 laps before pulling his No. 75 car to the infield with apparent mechanical problems. The event featured three caution flags.

Jimmy Thomas locked up his second series championship after finishing seventh.

The 602 Crate Late Model feature was won by John Ruggiero Jr.
