NORMAN PARK, Ga. – Brandon Overton ran down Donald McIntosh in traffic to win Friday’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nations Series event at Needmore Speedway.
McIntosh took the lead on the initial start from the second starting position and led until lap 11, when Ross Bailes drove by him to take the race lead. Bailes eventually slowed with a flat tire on the 20th circuit, handing the lead back to McIntosh.
McIntosh continued to lead until lap 37, when he found himself stuck in slower traffic. Overton saw his opportunity and seized it, driving around Overton and a slower car on the top of turn one to take the race lead.
Overton didn’t look back, driving away to the victory, his third Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nations Series win of the season.
McIntosh settled for second, followed by John Baker, Michael Page and Pearson Lee Williams.
