PHENIX CITY, Ala. — Brandon Overton put on a show in collecting the $30,000 top prize in Saturday night’s National 100 dirt late model race at East Alabama Motor Speedway.
Overton started on the pole, but that certainly doesn’t tell the story of the race.
Aboard his familiar No. 76 late model, Overton led laps one through nine before giving way to his brother Cody. Brandon Overton regained the top spot on lap 22, but cut a tire on lap 24 and went to the back of the field.
Cody Overton took over the lead and set the pace until Brandon Overton made it back to the front on lap 53.
Cody Overton dropped out on lap 83, while his brother beat Tyler Erb to the checkered flag by .985 seconds.
Joseph Joiner, Wil Herrington and J.R. Moseley rounded out the top five in the 48th annual event.
The finish:
Brandon Overton, Tyler Erb, Joseph Joiner, Wil Herrington, J.R. Moseley, Kenny Collins, Sam Seawright, Parker Martin, Dalton Cook Ross Bailes, Randy Weaver, Cody Overton, john Henderson, Brenden Smith, Jimmy Owens, Chad Wallace, Dusty Jones, Adam Boyd, Austin Horton, Dennis Hale, Dennis Erb Jr., Dylan Knowles.
