Tri-County Off, Boyd’s Still On


BRASSTOWN, N.C. — Due to forecast cold temperatures and rain, promoter Ray Cook has postponed the Southern Nationals Bonus Series event scheduled for Friday March 17 at Tri-County Race Track.

Saturday’s Shamrock 40 event at Georgia’s Boyd’s Speedway is still on as scheduled.

Saturday March 18th the tour will visit the David Duplissey and Dale McDowell promoted Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga., for a 40-lap $4,000-to-win and $400-to-start event. This year’s edition of the Shamrock 40 will also feature racing in the crate late models ($1,500-to-win), sportsman ($600-to-win), hobby ($300-to-win) and street stocks ($300-to-win).

Brandon Overton won the 2016 Southern Nationals Bonus Series version of the Gobbler race that paid $10,000-to-win at Boyd’s Speedway. Shanon Buckingham of Morristown, Tenn. opened the season at Boyd’s Speedway with his $3,500 Cabin Fever 40 victory Jan. 28 in the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series event.

On Saturday at Boyd’s Speedway, the pit gates will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 4 p.m. with the driver’s meeting slated for 6 p.m. and the hot laps will roll out soon after. Adult general admission is $20 and adult pit passes are $35.
