WHEATLAND, Mo. – With cool temperatures expected on Friday and a forecast of persistent rain on Saturday, Lucas Oil Speedway and Lucas Oil MLRA officials have cancelled this weekend’s MLRA Spring Nationals.
Full programs had been scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights, with the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and O’Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks also on the schedule.
Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said that he, MLRA Director Ernie Leftwich and Lucas Oil Director of Racing Operations Dan Robinson agreed that cancelling is the correct decision. A practice session for the MLRA drivers had been scheduled for Thursday night.
“We wanted to make the decision early enough so the teams and fans planning to make long hauls would know before starting their trips,” Lorton said. “Saturday looks like unseasonably cool temperatures and a near-100-percent chance of rain throughout the afternoon and evening.”
