McDowell Is The King Of The Mountain

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Dale McDowell pocketed $3,000 for winning Friday’s Southern All Star Series King of the Mountain Championship at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series regular Ricky Weiss took the lead at the start, with fourth-starting McDowell giving chase for most of the race.

McDowell would continue to lead until a caution coming to the white flag, which saw McDowell get on the brakes to avoid getting involved in the incident that caused the caution.

Weiss got by him as a result, but officials reset the field to the last completed lap, giving McDowell the lead back. McDowell would lead the final two laps to pick up the victory.

Weiss was later disqualified when his car came up too light at the scales.
