TAZEWELL, Tenn. — Dale McDowell started from the pole and led all 53 laps of Sunday’s Ray Varner 53 at Tazewell Speedway.
The event was the season finale for the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals late model tour and paid McDowell $10,053 for beating Ricky Weiss to the checkered flag.
Jimmy Owens finished third and wrapped up the series championship.
Donald McIntosh and Jason Trammell rounded out the top five.
Austin Neely was the fast qualifier for the 23-car field with a lap of 10.996 seconds.
