BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Race promoter Kyle Larson won the Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge Thursday night at Volunteer Speedway.
Driving the familiar Rumley Racing No. 6, Larson took the lead from Jonathan Davenport for the final time on lap 37 and led the remainder of the caution-free 50-lap event.
Larson picked up the $20,000 top prize despite driving to victory lane with a flat tire suffered during a final lap run-in with the lapped car of Kyle Busch.
Dale McDowell took second from Davenport, who started on the pole and led twice, during the closing laps.
Davenport finished third, with Mike Marlar and Chris Madden rounding out the top five.
Davenport was the fast qualifier for the 44-car field, turning a 12.580-second lap.
Busch finished 16th in a second car from the Brandon Overton stable, while Chase Briscoe was 18th in one of Kyle Strickler’s late models.
