SPRING CITY, Tenn. – Chase King led all 40 laps to win the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series’ debut at Mountain View Raceway on Saturday night.
The $4,000 prize marked King’s first triumph of the year. Donald McIntosh and Heath Hindman rounded out the podium.
King set a good pace from the start but when he reached the tail of the field on lap 12, Hindman and McIntosh started to close in.
Hindman and McIntosh erased their deficits on lap 28 as a three-way battle for the lead shaped up over the following five laps.
Cautions on lap 33 and 34 reset the field and gave King the clean track he needed to finish the job.
The next event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series is Sunday, Sept. 5 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway for the $10,044-to-win 13th annual Buddy Rogers Memorial.
