MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Dale McDowell swept the weekend with the Southern All Star Series, winning Saturday’s season finale at Smoky Mountain Speedway to complete the King of the Mountain Championship.
McDowell, who also won Friday’s feature at Smoky Mountain, took the lead early from polesitter Ashton Winger. He then survived an attempted slider by winger during a mid-race restart before pulling away to win the 50-lap feature.
He earned $7,000 for his victory, his 44th with the series.
Billy Franklin finished 14th to claim the series championship.
Ricky Weiss finished second in Saturday’s race, followed by Sam Seawright, Michael Page and Austin Kirkpatrick.
