It’s Hudson O’Neal In Gateway Prelim

ST. LOUIS — Hudson O’Neal was in the right place at the right time to win Friday night’s opening 20-lap preliminary feature during the second annual Gateway Dirt Nationals inside The Dome at America’s Center.

O’Neal, who started seventh, grabbed the lead when leaders David Breazeale and Rusty Schlenk tangled exiting turn four with four laps remaining.

From there, the 17-year-old racer kept his No. 71 ahead of the field and drove to a $5,000 triumph.

Ageless Billy Moyer came home second, with Jason Welshan, Bobby Pierce and Brandon Sheppard rounding out the top five.

Gordy Gundaker won the second feature.
