Hahne Claims Iowa Governor’s Cup

DAVENPORT, Iowa — One hundred and 22 cars took part in the 28th running of the Iowa Governor’s Cup Saturday night at Davenport Speedway.

Jason Hahne claimed his first SLMR Hoker Trucking East Series victory in the 40-lap late model headliner.

Hahne started on the pole but let Charlie McKenna jump out to the early lead. McKenna led the first twenty-four laps, using the high side of the racetrack.

Lap twenty-five would see Hahne, Justin Kay and Tyler Bruening all get past McKenna. Kay, who started seventh, took the lead from Hahne on the following lap. Three laps later Jason returned the favor, getting around Kay on the high side. Hahne led the remaining twelve laps for the win and the $5,000 winner’s check.

Kay held on to finish second, with Bruening taking third. Jake Neal and McKenna rounded out the top five.

Chris Zogg took the win in the modified feature and Aaron Hitt topped the SportMod main event.
