SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Ryan Godown collected $4,000 for his win in the 35-lap Race of Champions (RoC) sanctioned “School’s Out” special at Selinsgrove Speedway Tuesday night.
On the initial start of the modified feature, second-place starter Kevin Albert drifted into the first turn wall and was able to rejoin the field.
For the restart, original third-place starter Brett Hearn joined polesitter Duane Howard on the front row. Howard won the race into the first turn to lead the first lap.
On a lap two double-file restart, Hearn took command of the field and fifth-place starter Godown followed him into second.
The field was regrouped again when the caution flag unfurled on lap six. Godown secured the lead on the lap seven restart and led for the duration of the event.
At the finish, Godown was victorious by .75 of a second over Doug Manmiller. However, both Manmiller and fourth-place finisher Hearn were disqualified when their cars failed to meet the legal weight requirements during the post-race inspection.
As a result, the top five positions were awarded to Godown, Stewart Friesen, Danny Johnson, Howard and Jimmy Phelps.
Bob Bussey took the checkered flag for the fifth time this year in the companion 15-lap roadrunner race.
