SPOON RIVER, Ill. — Brian Shirley led all 40 laps to win Thursday night’s DIRTcar Summer Nationals late model feature at Spoon River Speedway.
Shirley started outside the front row and drove his No. 3s into the lead ahead of polesitter Shannon Babb.
Shirley paced the remainder of the race and beat charging Tyler Erb to the checkered flag by 1.264 seconds to bank the $5,000 top prize.
Frank Heckenast Jr., Tanner English and 17th-starting Bobby Pierce rounded out the top five.
Nick Hoffman won the modified feature.
