MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. – Matt Cosner took the lead on the opening lap and survived a late challenge to win Sunday’s Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series King of the Knob event at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.
Cosner started from the pole and controlled the 30-lap event, but he had to survive a late challenge from Mason Zeigler.
Zeigler roared into contention in the closing laps, giving Cosner all he could handle. In turn three as the leaders raced towards the white flag Zeigler attempted a slide job, but Cosner managed to fend off the move and maintain his position at the front of the field.
Cosner held on from there, beating Zeigler to the checkered flag to take the $3,000 top prize.
Jared Miley was third, followed by Mike Pegher Jr. and Colten Burdette.
