EASTABOGA, Ala. — Sam Seawright appeared headed to his first Ice Bowl dirt late model victory Saturday at the Talladega Short Track when disaster struck.
Seawright led the first 41 laps before suffering a flat tire on the 42nd lap of the quarter-mile dirt track.
As a result, Ray Cook, who started 12th, inherited the lead and drove to his third victory in the 32nd annual event that was sanctioned by the Valvoline Iron-Man Racing Series.
Cook earned $7,500 for the victory.
Chris Jones finished second, with Will Roland, Todd Morrow and Scott Crigler rounding out the top five.
Jason Welshan earned $3,000 for winning the Crate Racing USA portion of the program.
Other winners were Adam Cummings (602 sportsman), Oliver Gentry (sportsman), Scottie Hiett (modified), Corey Pressley (factory stock), J.J. McAvoy (hot shots), John Smartt (mini stocks) and Booger Brooks (street stocks).
