ABILENE, Texas – There was no stopping Bo Day in this weekends Sooner Late Model Series double header season opener.
The Greenville, Texas driver raced to a convincing victory on Friday at Monarch Motor Speedway and backed it up with another win Saturday at Abilene Speedway.
The Sooner Late Model Series event was co-sanctioned with the Southern Tour Late Model Series and a field of 30 late models packed the pits at Abilene, but that did not stop Day from posting his second straight win.
Two-time defending Sooner champion Kip Hughes roared off the pole into the early lead. However, fourth starting Day was on the move and by lap 10 had worked his way around Hughes. Austin Theiss finally passed Hughes to log his second straight runner-up finish leaving Hughes with third.
Muskogee racer Hayden Ross finished in fourth and Robbie Starnes rounded out the top five.
The finish:
Bo Day, Austin Theiss, Kip Hughes, Hayden Ross, Robbie Starnes, Mike Fenton, Brandon Brzozowski, Jason Redman, Mark Shipman, Dylan Glass, Steven Hawkins, Tom Briley, Zack Nickell, Jerry Derr, Dan Moreno, Wayne Bush, Cody Leonard, Damian Patocka, Kyle Sweeney, David Lane, Ronnie Warman, Eddie Tidwell.
