TAZEWELL, Tenn. — Dale McDowell pocketed another hefty late model racing check Saturday night at Tazewell Speedway.
McDowell won the season finale for the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals for the third consecutive season and pocketed $20,053 for his efforts.
McDowell started seventh and passed Mike Benedum for the lead on the 52nd lap in the Roy Varner Ford 75 main event.
From there, he held off Benedum for the victory, with Dakotah Knuckles, Zack Mitchell and Cory Hedgecock completing the top five.
Despite finishing 16th, Donald McIntosh was crowned series champion.
