One Scott Outduels Another In Texas

Meanwhile, 21st-starting Rodney Sanders inherited the third spot and beat Smith into the first turn on the restart to take over second.

Unfazed, Johnny Scott was flawless on the restart and powered away to claim the victory … just like his brother had done the night before.

It was his fifth win of the season, 17th of his career and padded his points lead in the Allgayer, Inc. Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.

Sanders finished second in the feature race and remains second in the regional standings — 14 markers behind Scott. He also earned the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award for passing 19 competitors in Wednesday’s contest.

Smith held on for the third spot while Clyde Dunn Jr. turned a 25th-place provisional starting spot into a fourth-place paycheck.

Kelly Shryock, who started 12th, garnered the fifth spot with George White, Thomas Tillison Jr., Paul White, Trevor Egbert and Chris Brown completing the top 10.
