Winebarger Drives Off Into The Sunset

BANKS, Ore. – Collen Winebarger held off all challengers to top the IMCA modified feature on night seven of the Wild West Modified Shootout Friday night at Sunset Speedway.

Jake Mayden led the field at the start of the 40-lap IMCA Modified main event. Mayden was the pacesetter until lap five when Greg Walters overtook him.

Walters spent a bit of time in the top place position. Seven total stoppages occurred in the main event, which made restarts very important. Winebarger would chase down Walters after a restart and took control of the top spot on lap 15.

Winebarger took off and had to deal with a little bit of traffic, but managed to handle it with ease.  Winebarger held on to first the rest of the distance to win his third race of the Wild West Modified Shootout. It was his first triumph at Sunset Speedway and 11th with the series.

Mayden was second ahead of Grey Ferrando in third. Walters was fourth, with Craig Cassell fifth.

Domer won the companion Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sportmod feature.

The Wild West Modified Shootout wraps up at Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday. The event will be broadcast live by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate IMCA.TV.
