HAGERSTOWN, Md. — With wet snow forecasted for Friday, cold temperatures with wind chills in the 30s on Saturday, and rain moving in for Sunday, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco has elected to postpone the Northeastern Supply ‘Mods in the Mid-Atlantic’ event scheduled for March 10-11 at Hagerstown Speedway.
Hagerstown promoter Lisa Plessinger and STSS organizer Brett Deyo will seek another date to reschedule the event, which was slated to include a $12,000-to-win STSS Modified combined Elite Series and Rent Equip/Party Central South Region opener and Belmont’s Garage South Region Round No. 1 offering $2,000-to-win.
“This is an event many had circled on their calendars, including me,” Deyo said. “But with accumulating snow Friday and a cold Saturday, we don’t have any other option but to postpone this event. Sunday’s rain date now has rain in the afternoon and there is snow north of the area for Friday into Saturday, making travel difficult.
“Lisa (Plessinger) wants to see the modifieds back at Hagerstown and is willing to work with us on a date to make it happen.”
It has been a wet start to the 10th anniversary Short Track Super Series season with the opener at Lake View Motor Speedway in Nichols, S.C., canceled along with two of the four ‘Sunshine Swing’ events at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla.
Attention now turns to the ‘Icebreaker’ at Pa.’s Selinsgrove Speedway on March 18 with the STSS Rent Equip/Party Central Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman in competition.
