Drivers battling for glory at NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series tracks across the United States and Canada now have something else to race for.

STSS Cajun Region Opener Set At Chatham

CHATHAM, La. — The Short Track Super Series is set to invade Chatham Speedway March 27 for its inaugural event in its first year of the STSS Cajun Regional series for Northeast-style modifieds.

Chatham’s promoter, Jerry Hobson, has been instrumental in helping grow the division in Louisiana. Last season, Hobson gave the Northeast drivers an opportunity to race during the COVID-19 restrictions in May with a pair of events won by Larry Wight and Matt Sheppard. In November, the STSS made a trek to “the Boot” for the ‘Mods in the Marsh 75’ at Chatham, and Sheppard walked off with a $20,000 payday.

Now, with the STSS taking the reins of the former Southern Super Modified Series, continued growth is expected throughout the season. A successful pre-season competitor meeting in Shreveport set the stage for solid car counts.

The series will have a 25-lap feature with a rain date of April 3.
